2022 YJA Convention Host City

Note From the 2020-2021 Executive Board

Jai Jinendra,

We hope that you are healthy and well. As you may know, the 2020 YJA Convention, originally scheduled for July in Dallas, Texas, was canceled in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this setback, YJA was able to successfully pivot our programming to an entirely virtual format. We would like to thank you all for your consistent support and patience throughout the past year.

As we look towards the future, the health and safety of our members and attendees remain our priority. While there has been a gradual resumption of normal operations in some areas, we are currently continuing our focus on virtual programming for the upcoming months.

However, with the recent development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines and a decrease in COVID-19 cases in the United States and Canada, we are excited to announce that the YJA Executive Board has officially begun its planning process to host an in-person 2022 YJA Convention from Friday, July 1, 2022 - Monday, July 4, 2022, in Dallas, Texas!

After consulting with several medical professionals, the YJA Board of Trustees, and other trusted experts in the broader Jain community over the past few months, we are hopeful that we will be able to host a safe YJA Convention in 2022.

This decision was not taken lightly; the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted several individuals in our community over the last year, both in North America and now with the deteriorating situation in India. (If you would like to donate to Indian relief efforts, we’re currently hosting a fundraiser here.) We continue to hope for the best for all who have been impacted by the pandemic, and we hope that news of a Convention serves as a beacon of hope in these troubling times.

A YJA Convention is a one-of-a-kind event — past attendees, speakers, and volunteers will tell you that those four days are some of the most formative days of their lives. Social, educational, and spiritually-focused programming come together to allow Jain youth to meet new people, broaden their horizons, and deepen their connection to their faith.

In light of the Dallas community losing its opportunity to host such a momentous event in 2020, we decided to extend Dallas the opportunity to renew their bid as the host city for the next YJA Convention. In a short span of four weeks, a group of motivated Dallas youth came together and submitted one of the most thorough and well-organized host city bid applications our organization has ever received. The team exceeded our expectations, and we would like to congratulate them on their hard work! We are thrilled to bring our flagship event back to Dallas.

As initially mentioned, the safety and health of our members and attendees remain our #1 priority as we move forward in preparing for the 2022 YJA Convention. As we proceed with Convention planning, we will continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 pandemic situation and remain in touch with medical professionals for guidance. In the meantime, we are excited to continue engaging our audience with a variety of upcoming virtual programming and opportunities.

See you in Texas next July!

With #yjalove,

2020-2021 YJA Executive Board
